Phase Lila ca. 1992 or 1993
Seems like I was in a lilac phase back then. Adding to the T-shirt, the helmet and the rails I also had a sleeping room in lilac. Strange times. Fakie ollie desaster with a Caballero-deck and Schmitt-Stix wheels.

Yoyo Schulz, Tropica 1985
A photo submitted by the master of the Yoyo-plant himself. Yoyo is famous for his Freestyle skating but he is a true allrounder. Freestyle, Slalom, sliding and vert too! This is the first vertramp of Tropica, notice the discolights!
If Yoyo would still own this deck in a new condition he would be a little more rich today.

Dieter Fronius, frontside tailgrab
Dieter with a frontside tailgrab at the Geenroom skatehall in Böblingen. The Park was our winter escape and home of the OFSN (old farts skate night) every Thursday evening. Today we own the ramp, looking for a place to put it up.

Jörg Keller, backside air, ca. 1992
Weeks before every GreenRampJam you could meet several known faces at the GreenRamp getting used to the ramp. Those sessions were legendary.
The Frankfurt Crew were regular visitors, famous for their skating and their tendency to party, though the parties got out of hand occasionally.
I remember the cops visiting after someone reported a shooting on the premesis. But it was just firecrackers in a metal barrel....
I think Jörg showed up every time. Today you can meet him in Karlsruhes Skatehall some time.

Martin Hopp?
Early GreenRamp days.....
It is funny that you forget who the skater is , only because the flashlight did not work back then. Judging by the style it could be Martin Hopp, but was he really goofy?
Early GreenRamp days.....
It is Martin Hopp! Verified by Nico Heresch (if there is anyone out there knowing it, it is him!)

Georg "Chicken" Kube
Skateboarding forever.
During a skateboarders life you meet a lot of different people. I want to introduce some of the ones I met in this blog.
One of my closest skate-buddies is Georg Kube.
I think we met in 1978. He moved here from Hagen, had hair like Stacy Peralta and already impresssed with great rampriding skills back then.
We lost contact over the years, met again, lost contact again and met again, always with skateboarding in mind.
I think it will stay like this, only we will not loose contact again. Skateboarding forever.

Die verblichene Schrift sagt :"Do something big, fuck a giant
Ich halte es in Ehren
Georg gave me this deck someday. He skates it in the photo at the top of this post. It once had cut off nails as griptape. The fading writing says: "Do something big, fuck a giant"
I will keep it in honor.
He can still flip out over a new deck.............Georg today

Slalom
Slalom is one of the oldest forms of skateboarding. Turning shoud be the first thing to learn, although it takes some kids years of stationary ollie hopping until they realize that the board can actually turn.
I always had a slalom board in my quiver although it collected dust in he basement several years
From 2002 on Slalom got a big revival also in my case. There are races every year, official World Cups and outlaw races like this one in Düsseldorf.
The highlights of the races I attended included the 80-Cones in Zürich in the middle of the city.
What I really like in the following picture is that my nearly 70 year old parents are watching in the background. (just under my left arm)

8 wheels!
Many rollerskaters frequented the GreenRamp back in the day. They were always welcome and every GreenRampJam had a rollerskate section.
So here is a pic of the one and only Olaf Hennig. He was rad. He suffered from a horrible slam in the early 90´s resulting in some internal bleeding which took him out of rollerskating forever. Too bad. A nice guy too, I wonder where he is today. Maybe someone knows?
Don´t worry, there will never be an inline photo in this blog....never.

Mike McGill, Täby, Sweden 1984
Mike McGill smith vert high to low
Mike McGill smithvert high to low
This must have been one or two days before his first McTwist.
The vertramp at the Summercamp had unusually large transitions for this period. I think 3,50 Meters or a little more. 2,80 - 3,00 Meters were standard back then.
I believe Lance Mountain remodeled his backyard ramp once he returned home because he realized the big transitions worked better.
McGill had unbelievable power and was not at all harmed by the moist climate there probably because he was from Florida. The area was full of moskitos.

Lifetime memories......
Like it had happened yesterday.........Bernd had learned fakie ollies, so I brought the camera to get the shot. Bernd warmed up and I said "go and do one so I can focus". he came up and blasted this baby out of the ramp. The wooden coping said "boing" and I pulled the trigger.
1983 Ettlingen backyard ramp. Board Tracker 777 custom sidecut, Indies, Yoyo conicals, Bernd Kebschull, fakie ollie
