Münster Monster Mastership 1985
This time of the year always marked the date for the contest. The first sunburn of the summer and great experiences where programmed. A special event was the contest of 1983. A remodeled ramp and an unbelievable A-Jam. The crowd went nuts and the vibe was unsurpassed.

Stuttgart Bowl Session, 21.05.2009
Stuttgart Bowl, virgin look on the second day after the opening ceremonies. A great bowl, very well done and a challenging design. The park will provide pleasure for many many years to come and at the end of the session one thing was obvious: it is way too small! The place was packed! Stuttgart will have to build many more of these parks.....

Thomas Klähn, backside rollin, Münster Monster Mastership 1982
Thomas Klähn and a backside rollin on the original Stadtbad Ost Halfpipe during the first Münster Monster Mastership 1982. Everything was new to us and everyone had their own style and tricks but a rollin into a vert ramp it still impressive today. Note the flat deck and the wonderfull broomstick coping.

Mute air, ´93, GreenRamp

Bernd Kebschull, rock`n`roll, GreenRamp 1993
- Bernds Achsen. Es sind von G & S hergestellte, verschweißte
Stahlachsen. Davon gab es glaube ich nicht viele.
- Bernd hat beim nächsten Versuch mein fish-eye zerstört
This is a remarkable pic for several reasons:
- it was the day Bernd learned rock´n´rolls
- the strange sticker on the nose of Bernd´s deck ist "Rip-Grip" which was
produced by Santa Cruz back in the day. I think not many people still
know that stuff. You could stick it to the bottom of the deck to
avoid finger slipping while grabbing.
It was sold in different forms and colors.
- Bernd´s trucks: Those were welded trucks by G & S. I think not many
of those were made.
- Bernd killed my fisheye in the next attempt.

Jörn Schreiber, frontside air, GreenRamp
Jörn Schreiber and a high frontside air during a GreenRampJam practice session. You don´t really see how high this one was, but if you consider that I stood on a chair on the platform to take the picture you can imagine.
If you klick the pic to enlarge you see a little bit of coping in the left corner

Markus "Maggie" Keibel, Lien to tail, GreenRamp 1991
Markus Keibel and a lien to tail on the GreenRamp.
Markus was a member of a skate crew from Stuttgart and was active in the late 80s/early 90s. I have not heard of him in a while.
Since his hometown gets a new skatepark next week he might show up again.

Bernd Kebschull, sunset invert, GreenRamp early 90´s
the sky over the GreenRamp was burning once again, I was hurt and I took the time to take photos. I only had an attached flashlight so the lighting is bad, but some pics from that session are pretty impressive. And Bernd was rocking once again. klick photo to enlarge

Marcus Cop, Indy Air, Green Ramp 1990
Marcus Cop and a nice indy air. I really like those grabbed at the front, nice style.
Marcus always was a higlight at the sessions and the Jams. There was a TV crew at some of the events and in one of the takes Mr. Cop is scratching his balls nicely. I have to look for that footage.........

Bank skating 1979 b.p. (before pigs)
There was this schoolyard in a village not far from our hometown resembling a skatepark. Several banks in different heights and angles. A paradise for us. These are some really old pics. Note the narrow decks, there were no wide decks at that time yet. We did not have any videos, no internet to learn moves, just a few Skateboardermags from time to time.

I just received an E-Mail from Andy from Munich:
Hi chris. I wanted to thank you for the Konstanz shots in your blog. I was born and raised in Konstanz and lived there before moving to Munich in 2000. I (born in `77) learned to skate from Bernt, Pogo, Kellogs & co.
I spent every free minute at the Jägerkaserne ramp. Highlights were the Titus Cups and Konstanz Opens. I always received a thick sticker pack from Matthew Bauer!
Thanks for the wonderful memories from these great times. Cheers from Munich.

Thanks Andy, this is exactly the feedback I have been hoping for, not only because of the props!

The Art of dropping in......
Drop-in.
The Art of dropping in.........to a vert ramp. Drop in. A milestone in the career of every vert skater. Some day the fun is over, a drop in has to be done. No matter what.
I have all the respect for anyone who does his first drop in. I feel for anyone who overcomes the fear and drops in for the first time. Only someone who has done it can comprehend the feeling. The moment between hesitation and weightlessness and the feeling of having made it while rolling down the transition and hearing the shouts of the buddies besides the ramp and on the deck is unsurpassed.
Myself dropping in in Ettlingen 1982 without flat bottom, slamming meant to crash into the opposing transition
I recall several people with remarkable drop ins: Jürgen Horrvarth with the softest drop. Jut watch him bend his back foot while dropping. Duane Peters, acid drops in Uplands Combi Pool in the corner of the Square Pool. Marcel Bourgeon with his waiting time about 5-10 minutes before dropping. Martin Wagner searching for spots with 2 meters of vert and 50 centimeters of transition for his drops!

Marc Menke, Lienair, GreenRamp 1992
Marc and a beautiful lien air. The ramp was still almost virgin back then. Note those roasts to stand on. They ate our boards up so we covered them with some mats later.
You can also see how fat the coping was. 7 centimeter diameter.
